Schoolyard bully mentality
by FusionTheism ini'm not naming names, but i just want to encourage people on here or on reddit or twitter, and tell you that you do not have to tolerate people who act like schoolyard bullies in the way they speak to you online.
i think anonymity is a big part of it.
they feel like there is zero accountability so they can be a bully all they want.. i recommend just ignoring or blocking anyone who is verbally abusive or treats you like schoolyard bullies treated you.. life is way too short to spend any time dealing with those kinds of people..

Witness My Fury: So lets get this straight, if someone disagrees with your opinion thats bullying. Only by agreeing with you can there be peace and love and and all things fluffy?
You have absolutely nailed the whole discussion. ;)
More truths: All Christians are lunatics and all atheists are intelligent, sane and generous. All Christians should be put into institutions and their children taken away (as someone here has said). All religious are idiots and all governments and institutions should be headed by atheists who being the best of the best will make all bad things go away and the earth will be filled with happy little elves busy at work doing all things good and great.
All wars will cease and hunger, crime and greed will be disappear.
Can't wait! ;)

Religious people have committed evil crimes this is true. But it also true that today's new atheism is creating an atmosphere where in the future, if it were not for government standing in the way, the religious would be drawn and quartered by some who are just as evil as those pictured above.
It's people who commit evil crimes. There are religious who would never harm another person and atheists who would also never harm another person. But there are on both sides those who seek to divide and inflame.
In the U.S. most Christians live quiet lives, go to church on Sunday, and do not force their religion on anyone. They give toward whatever charity their church is supporting.
Truly what is being reflected here by some is the Dawkins school of paint all with the same brush. He gets a bigger audience by doing so. But it is a lie.

As Witnesses we are expected to put up with elders and circuit overseers who use peer pressure and call people "weak" or "inactive" in order to get them to change and of course bully tactics have been used during judicial meetings as well.
JWs who have been conditioned to accept this kind of behavior as acceptable come here and may be fooled into thinking that such behavior by those claiming to be more educated on all things religious is somehow okay.
No, it is not okay. Whether a bully at the KH or a bully online...it is all the same. Make no mistake about that.
If someone we call a "friend" is a bully that does not make his/her bullying any less despicable only more troubling.

Witness My Fury: This site's users have matured over the years and so the site has shifted into one that has an increasingly hard lean towards truth, evidence and a low tolerance of bullshit.
Below is what a JW coming to this forum will read on the welcoming page-
Are you the 'Watchtower'?
No - we're an independent community site offering support for both current and former Jehovah's Witnesses and anyone else who has been affected by the beliefs, doctrines and practices of the Jehovah's Witness religion as governed by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society (WTB&TS).
We are not affiliated with the WTB&TS in any way and we take your privacy and security very seriously doing our utmost to protect your identity and provide a friendly, tolerant and informative environment where you can ask questions, share information and make new friends. Membership is completely free and anonymous so why not join today! (underlining added)
Witness My Fury, perhaps you should ask the site owner to amend this welcome to something more in line with what you say this forum has become. Note there is nothing in that welcome which disallows, discourages or ridicules religious discussions. There is nothing in that welcome which favors atheists over believers. Neither is there anything in that welcome which demands that believers provide evidence of their beliefs.
There is also nothing in that welcome which informs Christians of religions outside of Jehovah's Witnesses that their personal belief in God and Christ is...bullshit.

My Story of Waking Up - in retrospect
by cappytan inso, many of y'all know bits and pieces of my story of waking up, but i thought it might be nice to have it all in one place.. i was baptized at 11, auxiliary pioneered every summer, regular pioneer at 17, ministerial servant by 19, then went to bethel for a year.. i always had minor doubts from time to time, but nothing serious.
always dismissed doubts and decided to "just have faith.".
after leaving bethel, i was never really firing on all cylinders "spiritually speaking.

The Case for Theism
by FusionTheism in"theism" here means "belief in a god" or "the worldview that an intelligent designer created the universe and life.
" ("god" here means a being with a mind who initiated and/or wound-up the universe, and designed life on earth)the most common claim that i see atheists making on twitter, is that "no evidence" exists in support of belief in a god.this post will remove any excuse atheists have for claiming "no evidence exists" in support of an initiator.
atheists can still reject this evidence as "weak," but they cannot truthfully say it does not exist.now, it is true that we do not have "observable, repeatable, falsifiable, empirical, scientific" evidence conclusively proving that an initiator exists, but we do have many lines of philisophical, experiential, and logical evidence.and... here... we... go:1:) many leading scientists, including stephen hawking, say that the space-time-matter universe had a beginning at the singularity/big bang.

Thanks FusionTheism,
I appreciated your effort to add something to the discussion.
Verbally clubbing the religious to death is an avocation for some. Or perhaps you consider it jousting. ;) Either way, keep up your hard work. You have I'm sure been a comfort to some lurkers here who are likely being turned off by the vitriol expressed against God. No better way to make a JW run back to the Org. than to viciously degrade God as has been done on this forum.
I've visited forums where atheists and believers discuss their different views without verbal punches. It is possible but it seems not here.
Too bad really.

There is no right and wrong
by campaign of hate inso i am a little tangled up in this train of thought, as it can go quite deep.. as a jw, albeit fully awake, we are taught that there is right and a wrong.
smoking is wrong.
going on the ministry is right.

Of course slavery is wrong but though Lincoln believed it wrong he did not think the abolition of slavery was more important than the Union. -
